There has been a roller coaster of emotions these last couple of weeks in our home, probably in my soon to be family-in-law home as well and not to mention the ski jumper herself, Line Jahr. I’ve been so happy and so proud of my fiances twin sister whom I’ve gotten to know these past two years. Line and her boyfriend Fredrik is probably the two people I’ve got to know best amongst the siblings in his family. To experience that she got to jump in this years Olympic Games in Sochi has been a memory I’ll probably never forget. I’m proud but I dare say that my fiance (and his family), Tomas must have been prouder. This is a historic moment as it is the first time the Olympic Winter Games has their own competition with women ski jumping. That is a BIG DEAL.
Mette is the mother and she has been one of the few people who has helped making women’s ski jumping in Norway a reality. She started with the project over 10 years ago to let girls/women be allowed to compete in ski jumping, and look how far it has come! Well done Mette!
During her two jumps today Tomas literary held his breath, and when she landed he jumped and screamed of joy and happiness. Since we could not join the rest of the family in Vikersund, we had a mini cheering/celebration at home.
Read more about the family’s celebration HERE After the first round she was the best Norwegian. She ended in 9th place and is among the top 10.
